The Callaway County Emergency Management Agency said the boom that shook Callaway County on Thursday was a sonic boom.
"For those hearing a loud explosion sound in the southern portion of Callaway County, it was confirmed by the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) that it was a sonic boom," an EMA representative stated. "There were no explosions."
The sonic boom reached Fulton at about 11:45 a.m. and was reportedly audible in Holts Summit, according to multiple postings in the "Holts Summit Mo 'Good Bad and Ugly'" Facebook group.
