Three pieces from a historical sculpture at Fulton State Hospital have been stolen.

Fulton police said they received a report of the theft on Wednesday.

Marty Martin-Forman, former chief operating officer of the state hospital, said the theft of the statue - outlining a bear on the Missouri State Seal - was heart breaking.

"I'm just sick about it," she said Thursday.

The three pieces are valued at about $30,000, police said. These pieces are needed for when the sculpture is re-assembled for mounting at the new Fulton State Hospital facility when it is completed.

Anyone with information concerning the missing pieces should contact the Fulton Police Department at 573-592-3100 or Crime Stoppers in Callaway County at callawaysheriff.org/crime-stoppers/ or by calling 573-592-2474.Crime Stoppers tips can be made anonymously and a reward leading to the return of the three pieces is being offered. Martin-Forman said an extra reward has been offered.
