KINGDOM CITY, Mo. - An accountant from Kingdom City raked in $50,000 after winning a top prize on a Missouri Lottery's "Buried Treasure" scratchers ticket. Lisa Brandenburg-Simonin claimed her prize at Lottery headquarters on Monday.
Brandenburg-Simonin, an accountant for a state agency, said she purchased the ticket when she and her daughter were returning from a trip to St. Louis. She bought her winning ticket at FastLane Crossroads, 3154 U.S. 54, in Kingdom City.
"My daughter stopped at the store, so I decided to pick up a few lottery tickets. I scratched them in the car," Brandenburg-Simonin said.
While waiting for her daughter, she uncovered the big win. She gave the good news to her daughter when she returned to the car.
"I told her I just won $50,000, and she said, 'You're lying!'" Brandenburg-Simonin said.
She said she'll use her winnings to pay bills, invest and maybe buy a vehicle.
"And some to the church; I always said, if I won, I'd give some to the church," Brandenburg-Simonin added.
"Buried Treasure" is a $3 ticket with top prizes of $50,000 and more than $1.3 million in remaining prizes.
