Two wanted persons were nabbed Wednesday on Route Z, according to Lt. Curtis Hall of the Callaway County Sheriff's Office.

Kahlie Korte, 29, of Wright City, and Jason Evans, 37, of Warrenton, stopped at Wright Brothers' Store in Calwood to gas up, Hall said. Employees called deputies at 9:12 a.m., reporting a vehicle was trying to leave the parking lot without paying for fuel.

Deputies located and stopped the vehicle in the 6600 block of Route Z and initiated a traffic stop, Hall said. A male passenger ran from the vehicle with deputies in pursuit but was quickly caught.

"The male originally provided a false name and a driver's license that did not belong to him," Hall said.

Deputies identified him as Evans and the driver as Korte. A computer check revealed both had warrants for their arrests. Drug paraphernalia was also found in the vehicle.

Korte was arrested for stealing motor fuel and for an outstanding Warren County felony warrant for first-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

She and Evans were transported to the Callaway County Jail, where it was discovered Evans possessed a controlled substance, Hall said. Evans is being held without bond for two St. Charles County felony warrants for narcotics possession. His additional charges include resisting arrest for a felony, identity theft and possession of a controlled substance in a corrections facility.

Hall said Korte's bond was set at $11,700 for stealing motor fuel, the Warren County warrant, driving while suspended, failure to maintain financial responsibility, two counts of unlawful use of drug paraphernalia and displaying the plates of another person.

The investigation is ongoing and more charges could be added.
