Home break-in nets 5 years on probation

A Jefferson City man has been placed on five years of supervised probation for pleading guilty to second-degree burglary, unlawful possession of an illegal firearm and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia in connection with a May home break-in in Cole County.

The Cole County Sheriff's Department arrested Louis Minor II, 21, after finding a rifle and methamphetamine in a tent Minor was staying in near Landing Creek Road, according to a probable cause statement.

Deputies found a Stevens Model 22-caliber rifle with the stock and barrel sawed off and a sunglasses case filled with small plastic bags and a plastic straw. At the sheriff's department, Minor confessed to burglarizing a home in the 5300 block of Rolling Road, according to the probable cause statement.

As part of his probation, Minor must pay $1,280 in restitution.
