Two charged in Holts Summit area thefts

Two people have been charged with felony burglary and more by the Callaway County Prosecuting Attorney's Office, according to a news release from Sheriff Clay Chism.

Stephan Whelan, 22, of Jefferson City, was charged Jan. 4 with two counts of second-degree felony burglary and receiving stolen property. Whelan is incarcerated in the Cole County Jail on other charges and will be extradited to Callway County.

Todd Stickels, 18, of Eldon, was charged with second-degree felony burglary and stealing Dec. 19. He is currently incarcerated in the Miller County Jail on other charges and will be extradited to Callaway County.

The charges against Stickels and Whelan involve burglary offenses that occurred in the Holts Summit and Tebbetts area during November.

The charges are the result of an ongoing multi-county burglary ring investigation involving the Callaway County Sheriff's Office, Cole County Sheriff's Office, Miller County Sheriff's Office and the Holts Summit Police Department. Several other subjects have recently been arrested for burglary offenses around Mid-Missouri, including Callaway County.

The investigation is ongoing, and further charges could be forthcoming.
