Rolla fugitive arrested in Callaway County

A Rolla man was arrested Sunday after a Callaway County Sheriff's Office deputy discovered he was a wanted fugitive, according to Sheriff Clay Chism.

Nicholas Herbert, 24, was driving down U.S. Highway 54 near State Road AA at about 3:45 p.m. when the deputy clocked him at 93 miles per hour. After pulling his vehicle over, the deputy discovered that he was wanted for forgery in Phelps County and subsequently arrested Herbert.

Afterwards, the deputy conducted a search on the vehicle, Chism stated. He found drug paraphernalia and more than 200 grams of marijuana, which qualifies as a felony.

Herbert was brought to Callaway County Jail on a list of charges including felony forgery, felony possession of a controlled substance, unlawful use of drug paraphernalia and speeding. Including the Phelps County bond, his total bond is $30,214.

Chism stated that the investigation is ongoing and further charges or arrests could occur.
