Super Sam Foundation to hold cornhole tournament and chili cook-off

The Super Sam Foundation is holding its third annual Cornhole Tournament on Saturday. This year's tournament will also include a chili cook-off, with proceeds going to the Super Sam Foundation and fighting childhood cancer.

Heather Harrison, a foundation board member, said the Super Sam Foundation helps fund pediatric cancer research, as well as comfort packs.

"Part of the money goes to our comfort packs for families going through pediatric cancer," she said. "We have individual packs for the child, their siblings and their caregiver."

Doors open for registration at 10 a.m., with the tournament beginning at 11 a.m. The cornhole tournament features three divisions:

Adult Pro (15 and over): $60 per team;

Adult Rec (15 and over): $40 per team; and

Youth (5-12): $30 per team.

College students can participate at the discounted youth rate of $30 per team. There will be prizes for first and second place in each division.

Harrison said there will be plenty of things for participants to do during the tournament.

"There will be door prizes, carnival games, concessions and a bake sale," she said. "We will also be holding a chili cook-off for the first time, and you can buy a souvenir mug for $10 that lets you eat all the chili you want."

The chili cook-off will have awards for judge's choice, as well as people's choice. Harrison said individuals can enter the cook-off for $10, while the fee for businesses is $20.

Registration can be completed in person at the event or online anytime at www.supersamfoundation.com/events.
