2 men arrested after drug search

Two male suspects from Holts Summit and Mexico were arrested Tuesday after a narcotics search at Baymont Inn and Suites in Fulton.

According to Fulton Police Sgt. D.B. McGrath, officers and members of the Mustang Drug Task Force executed a search warrant in a hotel room at 11:50 p.m. Jeffrey A. Lage, 36, of Mexico, and Andrew R. Rotter, 26 of Holts Summit, were in the room.

Officers also found drugs, paraphernalia and a firearm, McGrath said.

Lage was arrested for distribution of a controlled substance, possession of a weapon by a felon and possession of paraphernalia.

Rotter was wanted on three active warrants - two for controlled substance violations and one parole violation on a robbery warrant. In addition, he was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia, possession of a weapon by a felon and two counts of distribution of a controlled substance.

Both men were taken to the Callaway County Jail, McGrath said.

Rotter was arrested in November after a car chase from Kingdom City to the Calwood area in which he was a passenger in a vehicle. After the vehicle became struck on Jade Road, Rotter attempted to also flee on foot but was caught, according to Sheriff Clay Chism.

In that incident, he was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance, felony resisting arrest, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a controlled substance in a county jail.
