Jefferson City woman arrested following pursuit

KINGDOM CITY, Mo. - A Jefferson City woman was arrested during a Tuesday traffic stop near Fulton, Callaway County Sheriff Clay Chism said.

Niketa Lovelace, 35, was driving a vehicle deputies were attempting to stop for a traffic violation about 12:30 p.m. Chism reported the vehicle failed to stop and a pursuit ensued on north on Eastbound U.S. 54. A Callaway County deputy working a special assignment in Kingdom City was prepared to deploy tire deflation devices near the Interstate 70 interchange, if needed.

As the pursuit reached Kingdom City, Lovelace came upon the deputy with tire deflation devices and stopped. Lovelace was subsequently arrested for traffic offenses, in addition to resisting arrest and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.

She was transported to the Callaway County Jail and booked/processed for the afore mentioned charges. Lovelace is being held pending the posting of a court set $1,500 bond.

The Missouri Highway Patrol assisted at the stop location in Kingdom City. The investigation is ongoing and further charges could be forthcoming.
