Still no sign of missing German shepherds

Weeks after the disappearance of two German shepherds in the Fulton area, their families are still seeking answers.

"I've done everything that I can think of and still nothing," Karen Fox said.

Her dog, Jake, went missing Nov. 16 from her house on Windy Meadows Lane off Route F. He went out into the unfenced yard to use the bathroom and never returned.

Fox canvassed the neighbors and reported Jake's disappearance to the Callaway County Sheriff's Office. She said she suspects he was stolen. At the time, Fulton animal control supervisor Tina Barnes said dog thefts tend to spike during the lead-up to Christmas.

"The sheriff said they have been looking and checking areas of interest and haven't (received) any Crime Stoppers calls," Fox said.

She's posted about Jake on many lost-and-found sites and Facebook pages, and is currently offering a $600 reward for Jake's return. Fox urges people to keep a close eye on their "fur babies."

Crystal Campbell's family dog Koral, also a German shepherd, disappeared from a Fulton home in the State Route H and J area at about the same time. Like Jake, Koral still hasn't come home, despite a $200 reward offered by Campbell's mother. She was wearing a collar with tags at the time of her disappearance, Campbell said.

"I really hope she comes home," she said. "My whole family misses her."

Campbell also suspects Koral was stolen and said she's heard rumors about thieves based in St. Louis stealing dogs from the surrounding area and selling them on Craigslist.

If anyone has information about Jake or Koral, Fox and Campbell can be contacted through Facebook.
