Holiday events planned this weekend

Callaway County is embracing the Christmas season this weekend with plenty of holiday-focused events.

Whether you're a self-proclaimed Scrooge who'd rather avoid it all, or Christmas-loving Buddy the Elf type who'd hate to miss a chance to celebrate, here's the complete list.

Today

Field of Joy and Wish Tree lighting, 5:30 p.m. at Veterans Park. The Callaway Chamber of Commerce will bring train, and children can ride free. Also featured will be the Candy Cane House from the Fulton Sun and Santa.

Family Literary Fun Night at Williamsburg Elementary School. Free food, crafts and story with Mrs. Claus. Soup and chili served 5:30-6 p.m., crafts 5:45-6:30 p.m. and story time and cocoa at 6:30 p.m. Every student will go home with a gift.

Saturday

International Fair Trade Christmas Market, 8 a.m.-3 p.m., First Presbyterian Church fellowship hall, 718 Court St., Fulton.

Angels Among Us! 65th annual Court Street Methodist Church Christmas Bazaar, 8 a.m.-4 p.m., 719 Court St., Fulton. Homemade soup and chili.

Breakfast with Santa, 9-11 a.m., Callaway Senior Center, 531 Commons Drive, Fulton. Pictures and crafts. Adults $8, children 4-12 $5, and ages 3 and younger are free.

Fulton Christmas Bazaar, 10 a.m. Cookie decorating with the Midwest Sweethearts, chili and more, 1915 Bluff St. at old Royal Auto Building. "Care Packages for Heroes (overseas soldiers) Drive."

Christmas Cookie and Candy Sale, 10 a.m.-noon, Grace Lutheran Church, Holts Summit.

Sneaky Snowman: downtown Fulton event. Visit participating stores and find the snowman, get your passport stamp and win chance at a gift basket.

Fulton Jaycees 69th annual Christmas Parade, 1 p.m., downtown Fulton.

Holiday Wreath Workshop, 10 a.m.-noon, the Art House, 531 Court St., Fulton. Class led by Katie Burnham Wilkins of KBW Floral Design. Seasonal evergreens, supplies, ornaments and ribbon supplied. $75 each. Register  at 573-592-7733.

Sunday

Callaway Singers Christmas concert, "Thankful," 2 p.m. Dulany Auditorium, William Woods University campus. Fulton High School Chamber Singers are special guests. Free/open to the public. Half of donations to benefit the Back Pack Buddy Program.

83rd Helpers Christmas Party, 3-6 p.m. at Fulton VFW. Free finger food, snacks, drink specials. Bring an unwrapped gift for a child, any age groups. all going to SERVE, Inc. Open to the public.

Monday

Fulton High School Winter Vocal Concert, 7 p.m. FHS Commons area. Free admission. T-shirt quilt raffle, silent auction, desserts and drinks for purchase. Special guests: Callaway Singers.
