Regina Ruppert at Serenity Valley Winery has plenty of items needed to get through this weekend and Monday's total solar eclipse.

"Soda and water, and paper towels and toilet paper," she said. "I filled the back of my pickup yesterday."

According to the Weather Channel (weather.com), Monday is predicted to be sunny with a high of 87 degrees, humidity at 74 percent and 7 mph breezes. Weather Underground shows Monday 1 degree hotter, and also sunny.

Officials from U.S. Cellular said they have plans to implement extra capacity on already existing cell towers.

"At large events such as this, we usually see a spike in text and data usage more than voice, so we are also looking at how we can prioritize services that are most important to our customers," said Shawn Holcomb, an engineering manager with U.S. Cellular. "While we don't anticipate problems with voice calls or texts, if there is a large number of people trying to livestream their experience, it could impact data speeds for accessing certain apps. With that in mind, we recommend that people be prepared and plan ahead, for example by downloading directions in advance."

The latest Facebook count showed 710 people interested in Serenity Valley Winery's Sip with the Eclipse 2017 weekend. But nobody knows how many people will actually come to Callaway County this weekend and Monday.

"People from Wisconsin and Minnesota and Texas are driving all night to get here, and will be getting here in the wee hours of the morning," Ruppert added.

While the winery is open at 10 a.m., some events will begin later in the afternoon.

On Saturday, Varlet Hearts will perform and there will be vendors, wine, food and games for all ages. Sunday evening is the hot air balloon glow and music by Open Road (7-10 p.m. with a $5 entry fee).

Monday - the big day - will be eclipse viewing on the winery's 60 unobstructed acres, which will be totally dark a predicted two minutes, 36.5 seconds. There will be a DJ, rustic tent ($15/night) and self-contained RV ($35/night) camping all three days.

"I just placed an order for four porta-potties," Ruppert said. "With our seven bathrooms, that should be enough."

Monday is free to enter, and donations on other days will go to Central Missouri Honor Flight.

The winery is at 1888 County Road 342, west of Fulton near Millersburg. For more information, call 573-642-6958.
