HOLTS SUMMIT, Mo. - Thursday night's Board of Alderman meeting in Holts Summit has several important matters taking place.

City Clerk Amy Burec said there are three items residents might be interested in learning about during the meeting, which starts at 6:30 p.m. at the Municipal Center.

"First, there is the change from the BOCA 1993 building codes to the International Building Code 2012," she said. "Tonight will be the final passage of that bill."

The International Building Code is a collection of building codes used all around the country, City Administrator Rick Hess said. A bill adopting IBC 2012 was tabled during the previous meeting at the request of Alderman Charles Chamberlin, so he could have a chance to read the codes. Burec said after reading some of the codes, Chamberlin was impressed.

"He took a look at the codes," she said. "He decided that it was a good move for Holts Summit. These codes really bring our building standards up to date."

Another topic of public interest is the start of the rezoning effort, Burec said.

"We will be holding a public hearing to discuss the rezoning of 531 Perrey Drive at 6:45 p.m.," she said.

Burec also said a new alderman will be sworn in during the meeting.

"It's not a big spectacular show," she said. "But our one new alderman and the other current alderman will raise their right hand and be sworn in."

All meetings are open to the public.
