Drivers hoping to motor down Callaway County Route UU will have to wait just a little longer - but relief is soon to come.
A one-lane bridge replacement over Crows Fork Creek started Feb. 15, disrupting some people's drive home. But the project is wrapping up, according to Gene McCoy, intermediate communications specialist with the Missouri Department of Transportation.
"The bridge project is not behind at all," he said Wednesday. "We're getting pretty close and still on target to (finish) in mid-April."
Since Monday, a project to replace culverts also interrupted travel along the same road between Route JJ and County Road 101. That project should be finished today.
"It's still on target to finish on or before Thursday," McCoy said.
Culvert construction will move between Route O and County Road 101. Route UU will be closed 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through April 20. This project had been previously scheduled, but postponed due to the weather.
"These are just standard drainage culverts," McCoy added. "Some of them allow bodies of water, such as creeks, to roll through under the roadway."
Motorists are advised to seek an alternate route around the work areas.
