Fulton man arrested, charged after month on the lam

A Fulton man was charged Thursday on suspicion of stealing and other crimes, according to Callaway County Sheriff's officials.
James Dejesus, 28, was taken into custody Wednesday and charged Thursday with felony tampering with a motor vehicle, two counts of stealing and two counts of fraudulent use of a credit device. A Missouri Casenet search turned up no prior convictions for Dejesus, officials said.
Deputies began investigating an incident reported Aug. 29 when an elderly victim reported Dejesus and another individual stole a vehicle and some other items from him in the 6000 block of State Road O, east of Fulton. At the time, they were unable to locate Dejesus or the other suspect.
The vehicle was found abandoned in the St. Louis metro area, and some of the other stolen items were found in Columbia.
The other suspect remains at large, deputies said. Future charges and/or arrests related to the theft are possible.
As of Thursday, Dejesus remained in the Callaway County Jail on a $6,000 bond.
