Fugitive in connection with car chase arrested

A fugitive was discovered in a house Wednesday where law officers were executing a search warrant, and he was taken into custody.
Travis Crutchfield, 36, of Columbia, was wanted in connection with a three-county vehicle pursuit in August through Boone, Callaway and Audrain counties. In that incident, Crutchfield avoided capture after fleeing on foot through a corn field.
Sheriff's deputies from Callaway and Boone counties and members of the Mustang drug task force executed the Callaway County narcotics-related search warrant about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. According to Lt. Clay Chism of the Callaway County Sheriff's Office, officers searched a residence in the 2900 block of Emerald Lake Drive in western Callaway County and found controlled substances including methamphetamine and marijuana.
Law enforcement officers also discovered a 16-year-old juvenile in the residence who had been reported missing in Moberly. The juvenile was taken into custody.
When officers discovered Crutchfield in the residence, he attempted to flee and resisted arrest before being taken into custody, Chism said. He was transported by ambulance to a Columbia hospital for treatment of injuries and medical evaluation. About 11 p.m., Boone County deputies transported him to jail in that county.
Crutchfield also was wanted on numerous Boone County felony warrants for charges including narcotics, assault, property damage, trespassing, resisting arrest and traffic offenses.
Charges against Crutchfield in Callaway County will also be requested through the Callaway County prosecuting attorney. At the time of his arrest, Crutchfield was under the supervision of the Missouri Board of Probation and Parole.
The investigation is ongoing, Chism added.
In an unrelated event, Missouri Highway Patrol officers reported a one-vehicle accident reported at 1:40 a.m. Thursday on U.S. 63 southbound. A 2013 Ford Fiesta driven by Jordyn R. Lyle, 21, of Lake Ozark, traveled off the left side of the highway and struck a guardrail, damaging the vehicle extensively. She refused medical treatment, police added.
