Dixon teen killed in Maries County wreck

A Dixon teenager was killed in a one-vehicle crash Friday night in Maries County.

Missouri Highway Patrol reports show the crash occurred on Route BB, near County Road 636 at around 6:55 p.m.

Kelsie Shoemaker, 16, of Crocker, went off the right side of the road, overcorrected, drove off the left side of the road and struck a tree.

Shoemaker was treated for moderate injuries while her passenger, Mikayla Sherrell, 16, of Dixon, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both teens were wearing seat belts.

Two people were hurt in a two-vehicle crash Friday night in Callaway County.

Patrol reports show the crash occurred on U.S. 54 westbound at County Road 220 at around 7:35 p.m.

Amber Criswell, 29, of St. Charles, failed to yield to a vehicle driven by Shawna Bruns, 34, of Fulton, causing the two vehicles to collide as they entered the intersection.

Criswell was treated for minor injuries, and Bruns had no reported injuries. Bruns' passenger, Michael Stoptick, 25, of Fulton, was treated for moderate injuries.

Criswell was wearing a seat belt. Bruns and Soptick were not.
