Free health fair to offer testing, information

Health fairs are a good way for residents to learn about healthy options in their communities, and a new Callaway Chamber initiative aims will provide that opportunity.

The chamber's first health fair will be 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday at its offices, 510 Market St. in downtown Fulton.

"This is a great opportunity for people to come by," said Tamara Fitzpatrick, executive director of the Callaway Chamber of Commerce. "We hope to build on this event; this is our first attempt at a health fair."

As of Wednesday morning, 13 groups had reserved booths at the health fair. There will be nursing staff from Fulton Medical Center and Fulton State Hospital helping with blood pressure checks and blood sugar testing.

Also expected are Koelling Family Chiropractic, YMCA of Callaway County, Tangles salon, Total Health & Rehabilitation Center, Juice Plus, SSM Health Medical Group, St. George Family Dental, Central Missouri Community Action and Peak Sport and Spine.

The event is free, and Fitzpatrick urged the public to attend.
