Davis Realty does away with office space

Advances in technology will allow real estate agents at Davis Realty to work from home or on the road, according to Joan Berry Morris, owner and broker.

"We're all moving to home offices," she said. "As a Realtor, you're always working out of your home office and your business office and finding you need something at the other location."

The Davis Realty office building, at 512 Market St., will be vacated by the end of December and available for lease. It's owned by the city of Fulton, City Administrator Bill Johnson said.

"It will be for rent," he said. "We would entertain any and all offers."

The building also includes a small parking lot.

Morris said Davis Real Estate was established in 1976 by Vernon Davis.

"I joined him in 2001 and took over from him," she said. "The city bought the building and was going to build a new police department but changed plans. We've been a temporary tenant for the last six years."

People who rent from Davis Realty can mail their payments to P.O. Box 794, Fulton, MO 65251. The company will be keeping its office phone number, P.O. box address, website and email addresses.

"In today's world, the majority of paperwork is reviewed and signed on location digitally, so this new concept seems to make the most sense. I believe that our clients won't even notice a difference and will more than likely receive even faster responses from their agents by eliminating 'office duty.' Records will be saved digitally, so agents will have easy access to all the paperwork involved in a transaction, and that paperwork can be easily shared with clients, lenders, appraisers or other agents."
