3 arrested, charged with drug smuggling

Three persons were arrested on drug charges last weekend after law enforcement officials concluded they planned to smuggle drugs to an inmate.

Dorothy Oliver, 54, of Galena; Terry Lambert, 56, of Galena; and Laniesha Dill, 21, of Crane, were arrested at 10:53 a.m. on Sunday and were being confined at the Callaway County Jail, according to a press release provided by the Callaway County Sheriff's Office. Each suspect was given a $4,500 bond.

These arrests were the result of an investigation conducted by the Callaway County Sheriff's Office and the Missouri Department of Corrections, according to Lt. Clay Chism.

The suspects were arrested at the Fulton Reception and Diagnostic Center after they came to inmate visitation on Sunday, Chism said. Two types of controlled substances were found in a vehicle in which they traveled to the center, he added.

"The investigation provided the controlled substances had been brought to the facility with the intent of them being smuggled to an inmate," Chism said in the press release.

The investigation is ongoing and further arrests and charges could be forthcoming. No further information will be provided due to the ongoing investigation.
