With a new executive director, the Callaway Chamber of Commerce is hoping this year's business expo will help local businesses market their products and services.

The Chamber of Commerce, which recently combined with the Fulton Department of Economic Development, has a goal to help create jobs, promote business growth and foster a community that is business friendly and values an exceptional quality of life.

They are hoping that the local business expo will provide a boost to the local economy, and help residents and businesses connect one with another.

"Business expos are a great way to get in front of people," said Tamara Fitzpatrick, executive director of the Callaway Chamber of Commerce. "Our main objective is to draw out business leaders and people seeking employment."

Generally, businesses will set up a booth at the expo, and provide information to visitors to market their business, and build their network of residents and other businesses in the community.

However, according to Fitzpatrick, this year's expo will have a different feel than past expos.

"Past expos have focused on the business to business element, but when you throw in the job fair, it adds another element," said Fitzpatrick. "This shows that jobs are available."

According to Fitzpatrick, job seekers will be able to apply to multiple jobs in the same location. The business expo will also provide job seekers opportunities to learn about career development and continuing education.

"I would encourage people in our community to come out to support and learn about local businesses," said Fitzpatrick. "There may be goods and services that community members don't realize that OVERSET FOLLOWS:they can get locally."

Among the businesses that are scheduled to attend are the United States Postal Service, Penmac Staffing, Pro Foods, Fulton State Hospital and the city of Fulton.

The annual business expo will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday, June 2, at William Woods University Sports Complex in Fulton. If you would like more information about the event or would like to have an exhibit, contact the chamber office at 573-642-3055.
