Registration for August art workshops at William Woods University is now open.

The workshops are geared toward high school students, allowing them to experience college-level instruction, expectations and outcomes.

The first workshop, drawing, will be 9 a.m.-noon Aug. 1-5. A painting workshop will be 1-4 p.m. Aug. 1-5. Sculpture-ceramics will be 9 a.m.-noon Aug. 8-12.

Students can choose to attend one, two or all of the sessions. The workshops will be conducted in the Gladys Woods Kemper Center for the Arts.

Organizers say the experience they had last summer in working with Kemper Kids generated the idea to expand the community outreach by inviting high school students to participate at William Woods.

"Each theme gives us the opportunity to introduce different media and to create a variety of experiences to enjoy," said Nicole Petrescu, gallery coordinator. "We are looking forward to exhibiting the students' artwork at the end of each session and celebrating their accomplishments with family and friends, as well as the Fulton community."

The cost of each session is $200, which includes all arts and crafts materials, T-shirt, daily snacks and drinks. Lunch is not provided. Discounts are awarded for multiple-session attendance, additional siblings and to all WWU employees.
