Fulton man honored for safe driving record

Fulton resident Terry Carter has been recognized by his employer for driving 1 million consecutive miles without a preventable accident.

Carter is one of 122 men and women who make up the 2015 class of Landstar Million Mile Safe Drivers. They were recently honored at an awards ceremony in Orlando, Florida, for their outstanding safety records and professionalism behind the wheel.

"Terry Carter is among the safest and most talented Business Capacity Owners in the industry. Fulton should be very proud of him and this outstanding accomplishment," Landstar President and CEO Jim Gattoni said.

Collectively, the 122 owner-operators have safely driven more than 122 million miles more than the distance from the Earth's surface to the sun.

Landstar System Inc. is a worldwide, asset-light provider of integrated transportation management solutions delivering safe, specialized transportation services.

On average it takes a Business Capacity Owner (BCO) 10 years to travel a million miles, a distance that would take the typical driver 67 years to complete. BCO is Landstar's term for the independent owner-operators who provide the company with transportation capacity under exclusive lease arrangements.
