WILLIAMSBURG, Mo. - Mount Horeb Church members are planning a homecoming celebration to mark the church's 183rd anniversary.

A pot-luck dinner under the shady trees will be part of the program starting at 12:30 p.m. Aug. 6 - a Saturday this year instead of on a Sunday, organizer Sandy Bothe said.

The program includes the "4 The Gospel" quartet from Church of the Shepherd of St. Charles, who also appeared last year, Bothe said.

"We need help identifying people in Vacation Bible School and other church-related pictures," she said. "There also will be a five-gallon bucket of homemade ice cream needing to be eaten. Once the last scoop is dished out, the empty bucket and lid goes to the next in line."

People coming to the event should bring a covered dish to share and a lawn chair.

"If you have pictures related to Mount Horeb, please bring them," Bothe said.

A short business meeting will be conducted at the event for election of a board member and a report on the church's preservation project.

The church is at the intersection of Mount Horeb Church Road and Prairie Fork Road, southeast of Williamsburg in Montgomery County.
