Faith Maternity Care, a faith-based nonprofit, hosted a ribbon-cutting June 23 for its non-resident program in downtown Fulton with Callaway Chamber of Commerce members.

The second satellite location, in Suite 301-C, 500 Market St. in the Palace Hotel building, will serve male and female clients who need parenting classes and/or baby supplies such as diapers, wipes and clothing. The one-hour classes include topics such as budgeting and household safety to child development, discipline and anger management and earns the client "Baby Bucks" to purchase items in the office Baby Boutique.

This office, staffed by Michelle Craighead, was chosen for its accessibility to clients without transportation and for public visibility. The location is handicap-accessible and includes an elevator. The current hours of operation are Tuesday through Thursday from noon to 5 p.m., and it will officially open July 5.

The ministry is financially supported by generous donations from individuals, churches and organizations and has served Fulton since 2002.

The residential program serves up to five women who need a safe place to live during their pregnancy and for a time after their babies are born. During their rent-free stay, the women can take advantage of parenting classes, counseling, case management and baby supplies.
