WWU riders take prizes at State Fair

William Woods University alumnae and university-owned horses earned three championships and three grand championships at the Missouri State Fair horse show earlier this month.

WWU alumna Danielle Benson Costanza, of Columbia, and American Saddlebred "Hot Apple Cider" won the Three-Gaited Show Pleasure championship and grand championship.

Alumna Colleen Harper-Hertzog, of Fulton, won the Five-Gaited Amateur championship and grand championship with American Saddlebred "Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves" and the Five-Gaited Show Pleasure championship and grand championship with American Saddlebred "Undulata's Perfect Alibi."

Alumna Sarah Track, WWU's saddle seat instructor, and "Goodfella" won the Open Park Pleasure class and earned a third place finish in the championship.

Lauren Thompson, a senior at William Woods, showed "The Kingmaker" to a fourth and fifth placing in big Three-Gaited Show Pleasure classes.
