Dentist Patrick D. Neff, of Fulton, has a long honey-do list awaiting him upon the occasion of his retirement.
"I love projects and I have a lot of catching up to do," Neff said laughing, on Monday. "I think I'm the last person in my class to retire. Everybody I know is either retired or dead."
Last week, Neff sold his practice, at 1000 Bluff St., to a young dentist, Dr. Teddy Rogers, a Minnesota native who has made Missouri and Fulton a permanent home.
"I came down to Missouri for college; my parents and two brothers are still in the St. Paul area," she said.
She recently graduated from the University of Missouri - Kansas City. She is married to Jason Rogers, a financial analyst with Sprint.
"We purchased the practice; my husband and I worked really hard to make sure were were able to do this," Rogers said, adding they are buying a home in Fulton.
An interest in science led her to dentistry.
"I like the blend of the mental and physical - to know what to do and how to do it," she said of the craft.
Neff has been in practice 45 years, he said, starting in 1971. He built the current office in 1994.
"Dentistry has increased because there are more people with dental insurance than ever before," he said, adding that makes people healthier in general. "There is a lot of research (linking) overall health and dentistry."
Rogers said she intends to keep it an intimate, one-doctor practice.
"One thing I love about dentistry is getting to know someone (clients) and catching up with them periodically," she said. "We're open to people stopping by to meet us."
She also said she intends to work with the same dental insurance companies as Neff's practice did.
