HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. Christian music artist Jym Howe, a Fulton native and singer for MARK209, has been to the "Compound" to sing for the former president.

On Aug. 16, the group was invited to do a small concert at the Bush family compound in Kennebunkport, Maine.

MARK209, a Christian music group based in Nashville, was on a 23-day New England tour at the time.

"Only a handful of people get the opportunity to sing for distinguished people, let alone presidents," said Howe, who is the lead singer and also owns Heart of Nashville Restaurant and Event Center.

At the gathering was former President George H.W. Bush and his wife, former First Lady Barbara Bush, plus George W. and Laura Bush, also former president and first lady.

"We were humbled by the opportunity to sing for not only one but two presidents at their private residence," Howe added.

The impromptu concert included several songs including "Amazing Grace" and, by special request, "Elvira."

Nathaniel Justice, tenor singer for MARK209 said: "When we came to the door, we were greeted by President George W. Bush. I was humbled by their gratitude, generosity and willingness to invite us, someone they did not know, into their home last minute."

Before leaving, they were asked by the senior Bush about returning to perform a full concert sometime in the future.

MARK209 just recently signed a booking and management deal with April Potter Agency and will be in the studio working on a new project later this fall. For more information, access mark209.com.
