Flash flood warning issued for Mid-Missouri counties

The National Weather Service in St. Louis has issued a flash flood warning that includes Cole, Callaway, Osage, Moniteau and southern Boone counties until 9:45 p.m. Friday.

The warning also includes Pike, Montgomery, southeastern Audrain, western Gasconade and northern Lincoln counties.

NWS reports 2-4 inches of rain have fallen in several locations in a short period of time, with flash flooding expected to begin shortly. Locations that will experience flooding include Jefferson City, Wardsville, Taos, Russellville, Fulton, California, Holts Summit, St. Martins, Linn, Ashland, Bowling Green, Montgomery City, Elsberry, Belle and Davis.

Additional rainfall of 1-3 inches is possible in the warned area.

The warned area includes I-70 between exits 137 and 175.
