Former Missouri lawmaker accused in road rage incident

MAPLEWOOD, Mo. (AP) -- A former Missouri lawmaker faces assault and weapons charges for allegedly pulling a gun and assaulting a man during a road rage incident.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/24tJLz0) reports that 67-year-old Russell Gunn declined comment on the incident that happened Feb. 23 in Maplewood. Gunn is a Democrat from Northwoods who served eight years in the Missouri House, leaving in 2000.

Court documents say a pickup truck driver merged in front of Gunn's BMW at a construction area. Gunn moved back in front of the pickup and allegedly slammed his brakes twice, causing collisions.

Police say Gunn stopped, grabbed a handgun and walked to the truck. He allegedly hit the man in the head with the gun, which discharged with a bullet going through the pickup truck's roof.
