Lady Bulldogs finish fourth in own South Callaway Relays

MOKANE, Mo. — Sophomore Kaci Jordan took second place in the triple jump (32 feet, 4 inches) as the Lady Bulldogs came in fourth in their own South Callaway Relays on Friday.

In the boys’ division, junior Bennett Hager finished second in the javelin (121-8) and senior Brandon Ward placed second in the high jump (5-10) to pace the Bulldogs to a fifth-place finish.

Senior Charlie Schattgen won the 3,200 in 11 minutes, 11.02 seconds as the New Bloomfield boys took sixth place. Freshman Samantha Haas triumphed in the triple jump (32-8) to direct the New Bloomfield girls to a seventh-place finish.

Jordan was part of the Lady Bulldogs’ 800-meter relay — joining sophomores Ashley Potter and Adrian Mann, and junior Josie Mealy — that took second in 1:57.65. Jordan also teamed with Potter, Mann and junior Haley Walters in the 400 relay, finishing third in :54.67.

Mealy took third in the 400 (1:09.59), Mann came in third in the 800 (2:46.50), and sophomore Elizabeth Luebbert placed third in the 3,200 (13:55.02). The South Callaway girls accumulated 89 points as a team.

Sophomores Kaden Helsel and Austin Meyer finished third in the long jump (20-0) and high jump (5-6), respectively, as the South Callaway boys totalled 78 points. Helsel, Meyer and Ward partnered with sophomore Dalton Stone in the 800 relay to take second in 1:38.60.

Freshman Robert Morningstar followed Schattgen to come in third in the 3,200 (11:18.29) as the New Bloomfield boys logged 70 points. Sophomore Kyle Emerson took third in the 800 (2:19.89).

Schattgen, Emerson and Morningstar teamed with senior Christian Eickhorst to place third in the 3,200 relay in 9:37.36. The Wildcats’ 800 relay of freshman Bailey Crane, sophomore Payton Culwell, junior Zain Culwell and sophomore Clay Walker finished third in 1:38.66.

Sophomore Kassi O’Dowd took third in the 1,600 (6:03.72) as the New Bloomfield girls tallied 37 points.

Southern Boone secured a sweep of the boys’ and girls’ team titles with 168 and 141.5 points, respectively.

South Callaway and New Bloomfield both compete in the Class 2, District 3 championships at Russellville next Saturday.
