Missouri entrepreneurship competition taking entries

The Missouri Alliance for the Development of Entrepreneurship is holding a MADE in Missouri State Entrepreneurship competition.

The competition provides new and potential business owners an opportunity to move their businesses forward. Competitors must live in Missouri and locate their business in Missouri. Entry is open to any potential business owner or current business owner who has been in operation three years or less.

There are two categories for entry. The youth category is for youth ages 19 and under, and the open category is for anyone older than 18.

All entrants benefit from entering the competition through receiving feedback on their entry with tips and advice. Finalists also receive the opportunity to compete for funds to invest in their business while showcasing their product or service.

There are two phases of the competition. The first round begins with competitors going to the MVCAA website at www.MVCAA.net, clicking on MADE and downloading the preliminary level entry documents. This will include the preliminary level cover sheet and the appropriate category questionnaire. Submit the documents to Cheryl Zimny at [email protected] as an attachment or mail them to 1415 S. Odell St. in Marshall, MO 65340. The first round entries need to be submitted by 5 p.m. May 31.

Finalists are asked to submit a business plan with financials by Aug.1 and participate in a trade show and investor style pitch round at the State Fair in August. First, second and third place winners in each category receive funds to invest in their business.

For more information or to enter the competition, contact Chery Zimny, community development manager, at 660-886-7476 ext. 816 or [email protected].
