The building, which was established in 1915 by Herman T. Doerries, had been used in recent years by Westlake for storage when spring nights were too cold for their garden center plants to be left unsheltered.

But according to Westlake General Manager Nick Niedergerke, the building had suffered water damage over the years and had become a hazard, thus leading to the demolition.
