Surging Eagles post fourth straight victory

SULPHUR, Okla. - Three players reached double figures as the Missouri School for the Deaf Eagles pushed their winning streak to four games with Saturday's 40-31 triumph over the Arkansas School for the Deaf Leopards.

MSD and ASD also offered a possible preview for the Great Plains Schools for the Deaf Tournament, scheduled Feb. 11-13 at the Wisconsin School for the Deaf. The Eagles are the fourth seed and the Leopards are No. 3.

MSD (4-5) went into the break with a 19-16 lead Saturday and outscored ASD 21-15 in the second half to clinch the win.

Senior forward Terrell Owens, junior forward Scotty Percy and junior guard Ste'Quan Scott supplied 10 points apiece to direct the Eagles. Junior guard Marcus Smith added eight points and Percy pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.

"We're settling down and running our offense," MSD head coach Dick Keller said. "Every set we ran, we found an opening, got a shot off and scored."

Stephen Cathcart scored a team-high eight points for the Leopards. The Eagles only had four steals, but recorded 11 deflections.

"We played quick and were all over the place," Keller said. "We were stepping in and knocking down passes."
