Lady Eagles tumble at Higbee

HIGBEE - Junior center Avalon Saxton produced a team-high 12 points and 10 rebounds in the Missouri School for the Deaf Lady Eagles' 64-26 loss to the Higbee Lady Tigers' junior varsity Tuesday night.

Junior forward Elizabeth Harrison also supplied eight points and six rebounds for MSD (0-2).

"(Higbee) definitely outplayed us in the first half," Lady Eagles head coach Sydnee Kuster said. "Our defense got a little better in the third quarter, but it was the fourth quarter when we really started playing well (outscored Lady Tigers 14-11).

"We started to do our job and play our positions, instead of trying to do too much and play all the positions. We put pressure on the ball and forced the other team to commit turnovers."

Rhiannon Ranyon led Higbee with a game-high 19 points.

MSD plays at the Illinois School for the Deaf at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12.
