Hornets bow to Boonville in NCMC home loss

The Fulton Hornets were unable to complete a season sweep of the Boonville Pirates in Tuesday night's 63-59 North Central Missouri Conference loss at Roger D. Davis Gymnasium.

Senior guard Kalin Mitchell produced 24 points to spark Fulton (5-3, 3-2 NCMC), which rolled to a 60-47 victory over the Pirates on Dec. 16 in Boonville. Senior guard Dearyon Estes also tallied 13 points Tuesday night and junior forward Justin Adams pulled down a team-high nine rebounds.

Riley Lang matched Mitchell's output by leading the Pirates with 24 points. Ta'vious Brazil added 17 points.

The Hornets play next week in the 82nd-annual California Tournament. Fulton opens the round-robin format against Southern Boone at 9 p.m. Monday. The Eagles are ranked No. 9 in Class 3 by the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association.

The Hornets then face NCMC foe Marshall at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Fulton turned back the Owls 55-50 on Dec. 11 in Marshall.
