Fire damages Fulton home

The Fulton Fire Department responded to a structure fire Tuesday that fire investigators said was caused by arcing wires in the attic.

First Engine Company arrived on scene at 5:17 p.m. and saw light smoke coming from the single-story house, located at 410 Business 54 South, said interim Fire Chief Kevin Coffelt.

Fire crews found an active fire in the attic that they were able to extinguish within minutes of arrival.

No residents were injured in the blaze, as residents had evacuated the house before firefighters arrived.

No working smoke detectors were located inside the home.

The American Red Cross was dispatched to assist the residents, and damages were estimated to be $15,000.
