The 40th Annual Kingdom of Callaway County Fair has found a new home this year.
The fun begins Aug. 2 and runs through Aug. 6 at the Callaway Raceways grounds at 7419 County Road 405. The change of venue was made with the idea of better supporting the community.
"The move was sought out in the best interest of the Kingdom of Callaway County Fair and for the Callaway Raceways," said Stephanie Hampton, Kingdom of Callaway County Fair board vice president. "With Friday nights being a conflict for racers and race fans, this move gives them the opportunity to enjoy the fair along with the races."
Hampton also said Sonny and Betty Atterberry of Callaway Raceways have always been great supporters of the fair and welcome this opportunity to come together to better benefit and support the community.
Along with the addition of the races, the week's line-up will also include the Central Missouri Mud Boggers, who will start their event at 10 a.m. Saturday morning and continue throughout most of the day. There will also be a Mini Mud Bog for children. Crowd favorites like the truck pull, tractor pull and the Figure 8 and Demolition derbies will still be among the festivities.
The board also plans to keep the Kids Pedal Contest, Baby Contest, Little Mr. & Miss Contest and many other events on the agenda for the "Kids Day" on Saturday.
There will be lots of different activities planned for children of all ages.
New vendors will be in attendance this year, including those tempting fairgoers with old-fashioned sodas and cream snow cones.
New and improved carnival rides, new bands and other forms of entertainment are planned.
