Ladybirds flatten Silex in EMO triumph

KINGDOM CITY - The North Callaway Ladybirds demolished the Silex Lady Owls in a decisive 61-33 Eastern Missouri Conference victory Thursday night.

North Callaway (10-11, 7-1 EMO) raced to a 13-3 lead after the first quarter and was up 32-10 at halftime. The Ladybirds outscored Silex 17-9 in the third quarter to increase their lead to 49-19.

Senior guard Maddie Ausfahl topped North Callaway with a game-high 18 points, senior center Bethany Bloss produced 10 and senior guard Erinn Bush came up with eight.

"It was a great senior night," Ladybirds head coach Matt Miller said. "All of the seniors played well; it was a great conference win and a great way to end their home careers."

Michelle Norton paced the Lady Owls (6-17, 1-7) with 15 points, while Elly Booth tallied 10.

North Callaway (5-9) lost the junior varsity game 41-38. Sophomore guard Reyna Schmauch logged a team-high 17 points and sophomore guard Madison Diehl totaled 15.

The Ladybirds travel to EMO opponent Mark Twain at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
