Lady Owls slam St. Louis College of Pharmacy

ST. LOUIS - The William Woods University Lady Owls have won two in a row and four of their last five after dismantling the St. Louis College of Pharmacy Lady Eutectics 71-48 in an American Midwest Conference romp Thursday night.

William Woods University (17-7, 12-6 AMC) bolted to a 26-13 lead after the first quarter and maintained a 38-20 advantage at halftime. The Lady Owls then outscored St. Louis College of Pharmacy 22-9 in the third quarter to stretch their lead to 60-29 and complete the season sweep.

Freshman guard Bailey Rollins directed William Woods with 15 points, while junior forward Kelsey Scherder and freshman guard Jess Schmidt tallied 12 apiece. The Lady Owls shot 40 percent (26-of-66) from the field.

Junior center Kennedy Volkart pulled down a team-high seven rebounds in helping steer William Woods to a 44-31 advantage on the boards.

Emi Santhuff and Morgan Rose paced the Lady Eutectics (2-18, 1-18) with 17 points apiece. St. Louis College of Pharmacy shot a dismal 27 percent (17-of-63) as a team.

The Lady Owls return home for an AMC encounter against Park University at 2 p.m. Saturday at Anderson Arena. William Woods beat the Lady Pirates 45-38 on Jan. 2 in Parkville.
