Bulldogs pound MMA for fifth straight win

MOKANE - Sophomore guard Kaden Helsel produced a game-high 28 points and the South Callaway Bulldogs posted their fifth straight win with Tuesday night's 83-54 non-conference dismantling of the Missouri Military Academy Colonels.

South Callaway (8-13) built a 42-28 halftime advantage and pulled away by outscoring MMA 41-26 in the second half.

Helsel was one of three players to score in double figures for the Bulldogs. Sophomore guard Dylan Lepper delivered 18 points and senior guard Logan Taylor contributed 11.

Robert Shields led the Colonels with 20 points and Sean Fitzgerald finished with 18.

Sparked by 11 points apiece from sophomore forward Austin Meyer and freshman guard Peyton Leeper, South Callaway triumphed in the junior varsity game 59-40. Freshman guard Dylan Paschang chipped in with 10 points.

The Bulldogs play at Hallsville in a non-conference matchup at 5 p.m. Friday.
