Wentworth's late run topples Lady Eagles

LEXINGTON - The Missouri School for the Deaf Lady Eagles let a 23-21 lead slip away when the Wentworth Military Academy Lady Red Dragons scored the game's final five points in the last 1 minute, 22 seconds in a 26-23 victory Monday night.

The loss dropped MSD to 2-11 on the season.

"We let them set the tempo of the game, which kept us from putting up a lot of points," Lady Eagles head coach Sydnee Kuster said.

Freshman guard Delanzia Hayes paced MSD with 13 points. Junior center Avalon Saxton collected a team-high 14 rebounds and junior forward Elizabeth Harrison grabbed 11.

The No. 3 seed Lady Eagles face No. 6 New Mexico School for the Deaf in the first round of the Great Plains Schools for the Deaf Tournament at 4 p.m. Thursday. The tournament is being played at the Wisconsin School for the Deaf.
