Lady Wildcats rough up Bunceton at home

NEW BLOOMFIELD - New Bloomfield sophomore guard Madi Craighead's game-high 18-point performance powered the Lady Wildcats past the Bunceton Lady Dragons 64-33 on Monday night.

New Bloomfield (16-6) jumped out to a 16-8 lead after the first quarter and was up 27-16 at halftime. The Lady Wildcats outscored Bunceton 21-11 in the third quarter to stretch their lead to 48-27.

"We didn't really shoot the ball well in the first half, but I thought our defense was consistent the whole game," New Bloomfield head coach Brett Craighead said. "After we started knocking shots down in the second half, it started to get a little out of hand.

"I didn't know what to expect after last week because I didn't know if we'd maintain that same level of intensity. I thought we would have a letdown, but we played very well."

Junior forward Madison Love also tallied 12 points for the Lady Wildcats and junior guard Kate Baxter came up with nine.

Taylor Burnett led Bunceton with 13 points and Rachal Lenv added 10.

New Bloomfield travels to Fatima for a Show-Me Conference clash at 6 p.m. Thursday.
