Second-half shortcomings sink Lady Eagles

The Community R-6 Lady Trojans' big second half doomed the Missouri School for the Deaf Lady Eagles in a 42-20 home loss Thursday night.

MSD (2-10) was only down 18-12 at the break, but was outscored by Community 24-8 over the final 16 minutes.

"In the second half, we just weren't in the game," Lady Eagles head coach Sydnee Kuster said. "We were rushing and making mistakes; we turned the ball over a lot in the second half."

Junior center Avalon Saxton recorded a double-double with a team-high 14 points and 11 rebounds to lead MSD. Junior forward Elizabeth Harrison scored four points and grabbed nine rebounds.

MSD hosts Wentworth Military Academy at 6 p.m. Monday.
