Greyhound adds new bus route

For Callawegians wanting to travel through Missouri, a Greyhound route established in August can take riders as far north as Kirksville and south to Rolla.

The route through Fulton is a connection service to St. Louis. The northbound route runs between St. Louis, Wentzville, Fulton, Columbia, Moberly, Macon and Kirksville. The southbound route runs between St. Louis, Wentzville, Fulton, Columbia, Jefferson City and Rolla, according to a press release.

There are more than 3,800 destinations from the Greyhound terminal in St. Louis, and adding the new round-trip routes in Missouri was a way of offering services to the state's smaller communities.

"We look at the demand for the route as a whole, and we've seen a steady increase along the route since it began last August," said Lanesha Gipson, a senior communications specialist with Greyhound.

The route was covered by a grant as a part of the Intercity Bus Program to provide funding for connecting services between rural and urban areas.
