Bulldogs pick up fourth straight victory

TUSCUMBIA - Sophomore guard Dylan Lepper connected for a game-high 25 points, including five 3-pointers, to help spur the surging South Callaway Bulldogs to their fourth straight win in Thursday night's 70-53 SMC triumph over the Tuscumbia Lions.

South Callaway (7-13, 2-5 SMC) owned an 18-10 lead after one quarter and outscored Tuscumbia 18-8 in the second quarter to open up a 36-20 advantage at halftime. The Bulldogs carried a 54-34 lead into the fourth quarter.

Sophomore forward Kaden Helsel also produced 24 points for South Callaway and senior guard Logan Taylor provided 16.

"We are gaining confidence in our shooting and our defense has been solid over the past three weeks," Bulldogs head coach Tony Brandt said. "This was a big win for us on the road against a tough conference team."

David Huddleston topped the Lions with 15 points, Orrie Patterson followed with 13 and Tyler Patterson added 10.

South Callaway won the junior varsity game 55-28. Freshman guard Treysen Gray responded with a game-high 12 points - all coming on four 3s - and sophomore forward Austin Meyer chipped in with 11.

The Bulldogs host Missouri Military Academy in a non-conference matchup at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
