An accident on I-70 Saturday morning has left one dead and two seriously injured.
Darrell Burgess, 64, of St. Louis was pronounced dead on site after his vehicle traveled from the westbound lanes underneath the median cable barrier and into eastbound traffic at the 151 mile marker in Callaway County at approximately 10 a.m., according the the Missouri State Highway Patrol's traffic report.
Burgess and his wife Beverly, 81, were wearing safety devices when their vehicle went airborne over a vehicle driven by Haotian Li, 25 of Columbia, before striking the vehicle of Darion Jordan, 24 of St. Louis.
Both Beverly Burgess and Jordan sustained serious injuries during the accident and were transported to the University Hospital by Staff For Life.
Li's vehicle received minor damage from debris and was able to drive away from the scene and officers notified Burgess's next of kin.
