The Missouri receiving corps got a boost Monday when Alabama receiver Chris Black announced he would be transferring to Missouri.
Black tweeted out a photo of himself in a No. 1 Missouri jersey with the caption ""The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.' Proud to be a tiger #Mizzou #UNO." He also replaced the "BAMA" portion of his Twitter handle with "Mizzou."
Missouri confirmed Black is attending classes at Missouri and will participate in spring camp. As a graduate transfer, he will be eligible to play in the fall.
Black played in just two games last season, due to an ankle injury suffered in the summer. He had two catches for 23 yards, both against Louisiana Monroe. On Dec. 7, Black announced on Twitter he had been given his full release from Alabama and planned to transfer.
Black's most productive season came in 2014 when he had 15 catches for 188 yards. As a freshman he had eight catches for 79 yards and two touchdowns and ran for a 31-yard score as well.
Black redshirted the 2012 season after suffering a shoulder injury.
Coming out of First Coast High School in Jacksonville, Fla., Black was a consensus four-star prospect. He was the 22nd-ranked recruit in the country by ESPNU and the second-ranked wide receiver. ESPNU also named him the 10th-best recruit out of the Southeast and the No. 5 player in Florida.
Missouri receivers accounted for just 1,297 yards and eight touchdowns on 114 catches in 2015. No Missouri receiver had 30 catches or 400 receiving yards and just two had multiple touchdowns. The Tigers' 165.5 passing yards per game ranked 112th in the Football Bowl Subdivision.
