Buzzer beater sends Blue Jays to third straight loss

MOBERLY - Yberson Augustin hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer as the Central Christian College Saints sent the Westminster College Blue Jays to their third straight loss 93-92 on Monday night.

Westminster College (7-12) led 48-45 at halftime. The two teams exchanged the lead 17 times.

Sophomore forward Nick Carlos delivered 26 points to guide three players in double figures for the Blue Jays, who shot 54 percent (37-of-69) as a team. Sophomore guard Tanner Cochran also tallied 17 points and sophomore forward Romo Tabb came up with 10.

Sophomore guard Jimmy Villalobos and freshman guard Carter Wands collected six rebounds apiece to carry Westminster to a 30-25 edge on the boards.

Augustin also connected for 26 points to guide four players in double figures for Central Christian College (12-9), which shot 62 percent (33-of-53) from the field. DuJuan Henderson was next with 20 points, Galeel Lee added 19 and Cameron Brooks contributed 16.

Westminster returns to St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play when it hosts Fontbonne University at 8 tonight. The Blue Jays were edged by the Griffins 63-61 on Jan. 2 in St. Louis.
